Walking through time and space with a walking artist
MY STATEMENT OF INTENT
I have had to change my initial statement of intent as I have found that this module has taken me on a journey. This journey has taken me in many directions. Importantly, it has helped me develop ideas about my own art and allowed me to research other artists work that in some way or other are linked to my theme. It has led me to the art of the pilgrimage. This connection between art and pilgrimage has never been clearer. Art is one aspect of the pilgrimage that truly gives you the feeling that you are walking through time and space. Most of the art on a pilgrimage is medieval: church stained-glass windows, engravings, artifacts, beautiful religious art and icons. With my own pilgrimage art, I want to move to a more contemporary artistic realisation of the modern day pilgrimage which is not neccessarily religious. Certainly my own interest in pilgrimage is linked to the modern concept of pilgrimage. For me today's pilgrimage is the fusion of spirituality, walking, nature, art and culture and this is what I want to explore more in my art.
Initial statement of intent: My goal is to make an interactive , animated ebook which combines text, sound and digital art. I am a passionate walker and write walking guides. I would like to create a totally different kind of book whichbrings the reader closer to the walker¹s emotions as they walk and createan emotional response in the reader.
The book would engage the reader by giving snippets of walkingexperiences through photographs, video, animation, text, sound, art work, poetry and text. For example, a walk in the snow. Possibilities could be video with special effects, digital art created from a photograph, the sound of snow crunching, animated letters coming onto the page and creating a poem.
The aim of this blog is to write down my thoughts, writings, photos, video, sound bites and art work which may be relevant in creating my ebook.
Researching the work of other artists will be a very important part of my work and will be included in this blog.
