Artist Teacher programme at the University of the West of Scotland - Autumn 2014

Walking through time and space with a walking artist
I am interested in the Artist Teacher Programme as I love teaching art, even although it has been some time since I have taught it. I would like to teach art again but firstly gain more experience through my own practice. Also, I would like to dig deeper into the connection between creativity and art and promote the idea that everyone can benefit by having fun with art.
Being active outdoors in nature is another one of my passions. Nature is full of adventure and spectacular events. My adventures started at the young age of four on my tricycle. It is still fresh in my memory - the anticipation of finding out what was around the next corner and then the next .... Since then there have been many adventures, and I always look forward to the next. From the Canadian Rocky Mountains to the Blue Mountains in Australia, near or far, to explore is the meaning of life. When I'm not walking or hiking, I am an advisor and lecturer at the University of Stavanger. Having just completed a course in travel writing at the University of Cambridge, I hope to put it to good use on this course through linking it to my art.
As well as two master degrees, I have studied Graphic Design. Other courses include: Art & Activity: Interactive Strategies for Engaging with Art, MOMA and Warhol, University of Edinburgh (both MOOCS). Otherwise I am a qualified walking guide for the Stavanger trekking organisation and a qualiflied Eco- tour guide. In the past I was an avid storyteller with a certificate from the Scottish Storytelling Centre. Perhaps this experience will be useful too. As you can probably guess, I love learning and no matter how many courses I take, I realise there will always be more to learn.
