Falling From Grace 1, Limor Sadot (2014)

I have included this in my blog as I am very interested in creating artistic collages as part of my work. This collage particulary caught my eye as I like how the collage has been put together. The combination of drawings with photographs is appealing and adds variety. The individual images of the collage are also blended well so that one flows into the other, with the exception of the apple. This stark contrast makes the apple stand out. The stronger colour of the apple and its realism strengthens this contrast. The artist wants to draw our attention to it, even although it is only the core of the apple that is left. I therefore ask myself why we should be drawn to it? The fish swimming towards it has its mouth open as if ready to bite but fish don't eat apples, do they? And then there is the smiling face of the woman. Why is she smiling? I don't see very much meaning in the art work although I find it appealling. I could, of course, make up some contrived meaning but why not enjoy it for what it is.
