Parkland Walk Photo Collage

Seagulls' Eye, Ursula Hitz (2012)

This photograph attracted my attention as it compresses a whole walk into one photograph.

It has been patched together in an unusual way - rather than stitching the photographs together acurately, matching each photograph up with the previous one, the photographer has used an unusal technique. The technique creates a disjointed affect but at the same time allows you to see some detail. The graffitti stands out well against the natural wooded environment here. The image is also effective because of the grey and black background which helps stablise the photos and create a wholeness.

As I use photography for my own art, I thought this might be a technique I would try to illustrate the many walks I take.

Parkland Walk starts at Finsbury Park up and ends in Alexandra Palace, London. A detailed image of the collage can be seen at the website below.
