Sunsets

Sunset Pink, Andy Warhol (1972) Sunset Grunge, Emma Arthur (2014)

I wasn't able to find out very much about 'Sunset Pink' by Any Warhol but I imagine that initially it was made as a screen print. The colours in this print are marvelous, almost electric, and the way the sun is sinking into a darker cloud closer to the foreground is is magical. I have always liked this image, perhaps because I enjoy watching the sun go down on a warm, hazy evening and we do get the impression that this is a warm evening.

My own sunset is digital, intentionally made as a grunge image. I tried to have the sun melting into the earth. The edge at the bottom is too harsh though. I will have to practise making more sunsets!
